Strange Omelette

Have you ever read Whoopi Goldberg’s book, “Book“?   It’s an autobiography, but written in the funniest way possible.  It’s in my top 3 books of all time, which for those of you who know me, is an indication of how good it is!  I have read far too many books, if there is such a thing?  Anyway… there is an entire chapter devoted to eggs.  Eggs are apparently just potential chickens.  Whoopi can’t eat a potential chicken.  She hates eggs.

I am not Whoopi and I love eggs!  Well, mostly.  I hate egg white.  I don’t mind it when it’s mixed with the yolk, but on it’s own it just makes me shudder.

But I do love me a good omelette!

Hotel breakfasts wouldn’t be complete without an omelette.  They are the only ones who can ever make them taste that way.  It’s because they don’t use fresh eggs, but that nasty crap that comes out of a milk carton looking jobbie.  It’s so wrong but so good!

My Dad used to make really good omelettes on occasion.  He never used anything other than chopsticks to whisk them and then mix them up in the pan.

My Mum makes categorically the best cheese and bacon omelette, ever.  I think she probably used more butter than Paula Deen which is why they are so good!

There is a Portuguese cafe in Sutton, Surrey (England!) which does an amazing omelette with chorizo, onion, tomato and cheese.  My mouth is watering just thinking about it.  It comes served with chips and salad too.  Amaze!!

And then there are my omelette attempts.  I cannot make them as good as anyone I know.  I however quite like the random little egg pies that I create.  And this one was no exception…

Broccoli, capsicum, jalapeno, bacon and cheese!

Yeah, I know it’s all kinds of wrong, but it really did taste good, as did the roasted potatoes I did with Fry Lite!

Another (mostly) clean eating success!

“Book” is also one of my top 5… Still puts me back on the train, nearly wetting myself reading it, and fellow commuter strangers staring at me in disgust, thinking I am on some really questionable stuff, or maybe have totally lost the plot… “Book” will for many years to come entertain me like the very first read…

Your omelet looks absolutely amazing, wish I could shove a fork right through my screen and take a bite!!! and as you and me both now, a whole lot of wrong is always just so right!!!

    1. Yep! Same with me and the bus!!
